Review on an app

We chose to do our reflection on the app Urbanspoon, this app allows you to pick what kind of cuisine you would like or the price range you would like to stay in. It also shows you some of the most popular places to go. Once you’ve chosen a category and clicked on it, the app brings you to a list of restaurants near you that it thinks you might be interested in. When you click on the restaurant you would like to know more about it then shows you how people have rated the restaurant, it shows blog posts and reviews and you can also see the menu, pictures and location and contact details about it. Shannon and I thought it would be interesting to make our own app but for a specific restaurant, something where you can get all the information you may want about the restaurant before you eat there. We decided we would make the app for my dad’s restaurant. We want to app to show the menu, prices, contact information, location, pictures and reviews. We are even going to try and see if we can add something so that you can make a reservation through the app. We think it will be interesting because you can learn about the restaurant before you even go to it like the food it serves, the prices and where exactly it is. Then you can put up your own review to let people know what you thought of it so that others can see your opinion too. Technology is a huge part of today’s society and so sooner or later everything is going to be done through technology. Just like this app we are hoping to make and how with a few clicks you can have so much information about a place.

Learning To Love You More Reflection

My favourite assignment that I saw on Learning To Love You More was assignment #63:make an encouraging banner. I like this task because it got people from all around coming together with words of encouragement for one another. The instructions wee to put the banner where someone might need extra encouragement. some people put it in their house but I personally like the ones that were put somewhere in public to get more people involved. My favourite response was done by Elisabeth. Her banner said "you are better than you think" and she put in on the shelf of the library. I like the idea of this because any random stranger could walk by and see this and it can brighten their day and put a smile on their face. Even though the person who sees this doesn't know who put it there, it still feels to read words of encouragement. I also like what she wrote on her banner. Now of days so many people have little self confidence and always feel like they aren't good enough. Seeing this banner could remind you that we are all hard on ourselves and that in reality we are better than we think we are.

Peer reflection stop animation

I decided to do my reflection on Emily and Kahonwentha’s stop animation video.  I think it was really interesting how they told a story through drawings, nobody else in the class did that and I think it worked really well. I could clearly see that the main message they were trying to convey was breaking free and exploring the possibilities. I like how they started with the boy and the girl in the house and then my favorite part was when the wind blew the red balloon that was on the paper and made it came to life and how they made it go throughout the whole school. Choosing to make the balloon was a good idea because it is a very bold colour. When the balloon was floating around the school it was like is was exploring and being free. Another really cool part of their video is when all the drawings were in black and white and then they slowly slide their hand over the drawings and it all turned to colour. Overall their video went really well with their song choice. I also noticed how their video was very well done and it wasn’t choppy at all.

Self Reflection

The meaning of our project was to show that you should never give up and always have hope.  We used some symbols such as the fish. We used the fish to guide the man through his struggle. The fish were swimming towards the sun which during the line of the song “lights will guide you home” this represented the light at the end of the tunnel or the hope through any hard times. Another symbol we used was the flipped umbrella; when the wind was pushing him backwards. This showed the struggle the man was facing which represents the struggles we face in life.

We got inspired for our video when we were researching other videos on YouTube for stop animation. We saw one video that was telling a story so we decided that it would be cool for our video to start off by opening a book and make it look like the beginning of story that was going to be told.

Throughout the video we used dull colours when he was facing his struggle and we used brighter colours when he was facing his struggles and coming past them. At the beginning it was raining and then he stepped in a puddle which represented sadness and darkness. Another colour choice we made was the red umbrella. We made the umbrella red because it is a very bold and intense colour which is often how we see the problems we have to face in our own life.

I think in the end our message came across in our video. I think it is important that people understand that everybody will be face with struggles in their life but you can’t lose hope if you want to overcome these problems. You have to be strong and stay positive and in the end there will be a light that guides you through it all. There is always a light at the end of the tunnel.
